West Sussex was once a thriving fruit growing county with its warm, sunny weather and fertile soil. Until very recently the South Coast and areas around the Arun were known for their orchards and rare varieties of apples. There is now a growing interest in the re-planting of orchards often combined with wildflower meadows. These are both havens for wildlife and a beautifully romantic landscape to include within your garden.
From my first job, after leaving school, at Brinkmans Nurseries where I planted and grafted fruit trees to apple picking in Kent orchards, I went on to pruning peach trees and grape vines abroad.
With the industry now disappeared from Sussex I enjoy reviving orchards within clients' gardens, both restoring veteran trees and planting young trees as well as carrying out annual pruning in several gardens for many years.
We also specialise in planting specimen trees and tree scapes, such as avenues and tree circles. We can source any tree, often from local growers and nurseries.
Employing the most recent techniques we ensure every tree is planted with care.
I have known Ian Taylor for over twenty years. During this time he has planted and maintained trees and hedges to a high standard, and meticulously pruned apple trees. He is very knowledgeable, and happy to advise on any aspect of the garden. Ian is reliable, honest and trustworthy. He works quietly and always leaves the garden looking immaculate. I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone.
